There are the homebodies and the wanderers. The stay-at-homes and the adventurers. The cautious and the bold. – We probably belong to the second category, and the fact that you've opened this book could be a compelling indication that you’re on our team too. Yes, out there you’ll get scraped knees, grazed elbows, and homesickness, but still, we always have to venture out, following our nose, with a big dose of wanderlust as our compass. Sound exhausting?
Curvistan has just opened in the heart of Bangkok at Sukhumvit 38, right next to Thong Lor Station. Come by, have a chat, enjoy a drink, grab some food, and take a look at the brand-new „Porsche - A Design Manifesto“ exhibition, which showcases the design mindset of Porsche. Open daily from 7 AM to midnight. See you there!
It‘s the Pacific vibe: about 20 years after the start of production the Porschemuseum Stefan Bogner and Nicole Hettesheimer are unveiling the ultimate story about one of the most desirable super sports cars ever built: the Porsche Carrera GT. The high-performance Porsche sports car with the DNA of a racecar has its origin in a prototype secretly shaped at the former Porsche Styling Studio in Huntington Beach, California.
Ending the Porsche 911’s 60th anniversary year on New Zealand's curves. As “The Lord of the Curves”, Stefan Bogner never misses an opportunity to go on an adventurous road trip. Now he just finished exploring New Zealand’s South Island from behind the wheel of a Porsche 911 T for his magazine “Curves”.
In the CURVES universe, too, summer is coming to an end these days. In the rearview mirror, the serpentine roads of our last trips to Portugal, the Grossglockner, South Tyrol or further south are getting smaller and the CURVES team is drifting back home from all directions. As luck would have it, the epicenter of the car world has also shifted with our return home.
We’ve come to the end, or, to be more precise, the end of the earth. Finally. But not quite: a little over 5,700 kilometers lie ahead of us at our starting point in Puerto Montt, Chile, until all that’s left is a view of the ice-gray Pacific Ocean from Tierra del Fuego to the south. Next stop: Antarctica.
On the road at the end of the world. We’re talking about Chilean route RN9 through southern Patagonia. From Torres del Paine National Park down to Tierra del Fuego. The route is actually known as “Fin del Mundo” – the end of the world. Once past the Andes, the yawning, flat terrain stretches from horizon-to-horizon, covered with a thin carpet of hardy vegetation.
They go by the name of Mille Miglia, Targa Florio or Carrera Panamericana and are true cathedrals of the full-throttle cult. In their current formats, however, the focus is no longer on the final result of the race, but on what it’s really all about. And what is that? It’s about the spirit of racing. It’s about the fundamental nature of a time when people still careered over the mountains at breakneck speed and made history in the process.
Munich is like the epicenter, the starting point for every one of our CURVES trips. However, while we usually turn the map toward the south as soon as we set out, heading for the Alps, this time we’re taking CURVES in an entirely unfamiliar direction. We’re following a north-east course, toward the low mountain ranges along Germany’s eastern border.
Will the Rimac Concept One be the blue-chip collector car of the future? With Porsche investing in Rimac Automobili and company founder Mate Rimac heading Bugatti, we’re starting to wonder if the Croatian brand’s very first EV hypercar – the Rimac Concept One – has the potential to become the must-have electric collector car of the new Millennium.
On January 26, 2019, Aksel Lund Svindal, one of the best and most charismatic skiers of all time, announced the end of his career in Kitzbühel. Exactly three years earlier, in the same place, a fall to the edge of the Hausbergkante almost meant that. But despite his serious knee injury and possible long-term consequences, Aksel decides to continue his career with the aim of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.
They’re still around, those motor racing monuments of days gone by. They don't take themselves too seriously though these days and after decades of blood, sweat and tears, they want to have more fun than suffering, but when it comes down to it, there is still only one thing that counts – driving flat out.
Running on empty is a feeling we often experience before visiting Iceland’s wonderful Porsche community. We’ve had friends up there going back a long time: Fusi the network specialist, Björki in his garage and Petur, who divides his time between flying a Boeing 757 for Iceland Air and running Porsche Club Iceland. After just a few days in Iceland our batteries have been replenished, as the island acts like a charging station.
In reality, of course, the view we have is always of the road stretching out in front of us – over the steering wheel, with our eyes fixed on the pass ahead. Towards the end of the year, however, by way of exception, we take a look in the rear-view mirror. And we have to admit – the Curves Cuvée, 2018 Vintage, looks really good!

The “Großglockner”, Austria’s highest mountain with 3,789 m, is one of the most important summits of the Eastern Alpes – and not only because he is so important for alpine tourism. Already at the end of the 18th Century, he has been explored and nobody less than Arch Bishop Salm-Reiffenscheidt-Krautheim was the first to ascent in 1800.
