On January 26, 2019, Aksel Lund Svindal, one of the best and most charismatic skiers of all time, announced the end of his career in Kitzbühel. Exactly three years earlier, in the same place, a fall to the edge of the Hausbergkante almost meant that. But despite his serious knee injury and possible long-term consequences, Aksel decides to continue his career with the aim of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.

  • After a brutal crash that permanently damaged his knee, Olympic Champion Aksel Lund Svindal refused to retire. For four years, the cameras follow the Norwegian behind the scenes on his way back. You can see an almost obsessed fighter who is still half anesthetized and wants to plan the next steps. A Viking who is known for mental strength and relaxed sayings, but suddenly is afraid of simple turns on a flat slope. A passionate professional who begins to question the meaning of what he is doing. A sensitive person who has to make emotional decisions between success and health. Teammates who are friends and competitors at the same time. And a family that has to overcome strokes of fate and many challenges together.

In his extraordinary career, Aksel Lund Svindal was able to achieve 50 victories in the Olympic Games, World Championships and World Cups. The "Viking" is known for his numerous comebacks after injuries, his mental strength and his team spirit. The team from "Field Productions" accompanied him, his family and the Norwegian ski team from 2015 to the end of his career in 2019. This film is a very personal, emotional and authentic documentary - the only one that has ever been made about the Norwegian’s career.
