If you had to describe Portugal in one word, it would have to be: contrasts. Modern and traditional, dynamic and slow-paced, rich and rustic, Atlantic and mountains, damp and dry, cool and hot. The list could go on and on, but words are not the lifeblood of CURVES. This magazine is about doing. About setting off and exploring. About being there in person. And that’s why we wanted to take a closer look at Portugal. We drove from the north around Porto into the mountain ranges of the interior, along the Atlantic coast and beyond Lisbon to the south, to the Algarve. We discovered a Portugal that we had never expected. Totally different to the images and ideas we had before we set off. And we fell in love with the contrasts of the country, like the moment we arrived at the Atlantic coast from the lush green, cool forests around Sintra. Standing in the sun, while the haze from the sea makes the air shimmer. And that moment alone would have been worth the entire trip. It’s impossible to get driving more soulful than that.
