It is no coincidence that CURVES was on tour in Corsica just a blink of an eye before now setting off on its journey to Sardinia with this edition. The two islands midway between Genoa and Tunis might seem like an unlikely pairing, connected like the Stones and the Beatles – one wild and edgy, the other sophisticated and supple. We found Corsica completely absorbing, coaxing us into sweating ecstasy, and now we’re happily switching to a more subtle groove. Let’s turn our attention to the island further south. Drum roll please: Sardinia! Italian sensuality can be felt at every turn here. It is as if the world is brighter and more harmonious. The soft light, the vast landscapes, the picturesque fusion of villages and towns – these are the things that make Sardinia so special. To the south the island digs its toes comfortably into the sand dunes and wide beaches, while to the north green hills border rocky coastlines. Cities like Cagliari, Olbia or Sassari buzz with Mediterranean life, while the quiet countryside in between spans eternal arcs of time. This is a land of shepherds and farmers, small villages and wildernesses. Nature and history are inextricably intertwined in Sardinia; the decayed vestiges of long-dead cultures are as deeply rooted as the rocky precipices on the coast. For us, the real attraction is familiar, but always new: dynamic driving on spectacular roads. This is something Sardinia can offer in abundance. Dream landscapes with a ribbon of asphalt that becomes a gateway to happiness. By the way, we have two suggestions for fans of soulful driving: the route described in this issue can also be found as a gpx file on the curves-magazin.com website, however this should only be seen as a serving suggestion. It is always worthwhile turning left and right in Sardinia because the island is a real treasure trove for anyone in search of driving pleasures both large and small. We would also recommend searching for our CURVES playlist on Spotify to let yourself drift across the island with sounds that evoke the smell of sun and sea. Of course, the playlist can also spark that summer feeling as you make your way to the office, but that would be blatant misuse. Just enjoy it!
