Late September — there’s already a chill in the air up on the high passes, and the first snow is on its way. We spend the last days in the mountains with the 992 GT3 Touring and the Macan 4, both dressed in the stunning color combination of Brewster Green. The Macan even put on its “golden shoes” — remember those golden BBS wheels? Smile.
Everything has already been said about the 992 GT3 Touring. The final stage. The man-machine symbiosis. The best interface you can drive in the mountains. Maybe a bit too large for the narrow passes these days, but this machine makes it clear from the very first meters: it’s pure perfection. Bucket seat adjusted, interface optimized — and with warm tires, the Touring dances through the landscape. Manual shifting, click-clack — wonderful. A constant grin sets in. The color Brewster Green is simply unbeatable for autumn photos.
And then there’s the Macan 4 — the one you just can’t shake in the rear-view mirror. In the corners, it pushes the Touring along with its diabolical grin. Electric power at its best: continuous torque instead of turbo lag. That an SUV could be this much fun? We wouldn’t have believed it ourselves — being die-hard “I-like-to-sit-low” corner hunters. How Porsche manages to put that weight on the road so dynamically — Mamma mia! The calm in the cockpit also has its charm: your senses for nature sharpen. We had to strap the luggage down with tie-downs — that’s how fast we were flying up and down the passes. And it was pure joy constantly swapping cars. Somehow old school meets new school — yet both born in 2025.
Speaking of refueling: we’d expected long electric breaks. But we could hardly finish our apple strudel and espresso — and the Macan was already back at 80%. Lesson learned. On the descent from the Timmelsjoch, we thought the battery might burst — suddenly, the display showed nearly 600 km of range. Charging instead of braking!
In our dreams, we would’ve loved to have the 718 successor along — the one that’s just a bit late to see the light of day. Then we’d finally feel what a nimble electric two-seater can really do. We’re looking forward to the charge. The best thing about Porsche: air, water, or electricity — it doesn’t matter. It always ends with a smile.
